In 1997 BARRY KEMPs (Producer) Bungalow 78 Productions, in conjunction with Touchstone Pictures, released Romy and Micheles High School Reunion, starring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino. Kemps earlier work consists of more than a decade as a prolific television series creator. He has created and or produced twelve series totaling more than 460 half-hours of programming, including Newhart and the five-part CBS miniseries Fresno. Originally brought to Paramount in 1977, Kemp began his career as a writer for Taxi. During his three seasons on the show, he wrote a total of fourteen episodes and earned an Emmy nomination and two Writers Guild nominations. In 1978, Kemp began an overall deal at Universal Television. It was his love of sports that inspired the creation of the long-running Emmy Award-winning series Coach. Under the Bungalow 78 Productions banner, he also executive produced the CBS comedy series Coming of Age, co-created and executive produced Princess, and served as executive producer for ABCs Delta. As an adjunct to his professional activities, he and his wife Maggie, fund an undergraduate Playwriting Scholarship at the University of Iowa, their alma mater. Recently their interests have expanded further into sports with a minority interest in the NBAs Phoenix Suns and as owners of the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the International Hockey League. |
